I think I'm depressed. Again.
Plus my anxiety has been really bad.
I think it's a thyroid check time.
I just don't feel like myself, at all.
I want to run, so bad but I have zero energy to do it. Today I forced myself to weed the garden and listen to music and you know what? It helped a lot. So I'm going to do that again tomorrow.
I have 2 more days off after today and then I have an interview!
So I wrote that depressing blog post an hour ago,
and then I remembered I wanted to tell a very short, funny little story.
I could just edit that last one,
but it wouldn't really fit there,
so I'll write it here in it's own post.
Because I can.
Last week in my photography class,
another film student was ranting about the movie Noah,
saying how it wasn't very good and it was the director's worst movie,
too fantastical, blah blah…
So . . . everything sucks.
I really don't know what's going to happen.
With school, with my future.
Most of the time, I don't even care.
This Friday I'm skipping out on Good Friday with my family.
Since Catholics don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent,
and this is the most important Friday of them all,
a bunch of my family gets together and eats a lot of seafood.
That's why I haven't spent a Good Friday with my family in years.
Luke is the perfect boyfriend: handsome, kind, fun. He and Emaline have been together all through high school in Colby, the beach town where they both grew up. But now, in the summer before college, Emaline wonders if perfect is good enough.
Enter Theo, a super-ambitious outsider, a New Yorker assisting on a documentary film about a reclusive local artist. Theo's sophisticated, exciting, and, best of all, he thinks Emaline is much too smart for Colby.
Emaline's mostly-absentee father, too, thinks Emaline should have a bigger life, and he's convinced that an Ivy League education is the only route to realizing her potential. Emaline is attracted to the bright future that Theo and her father promise. But she also clings to the deep roots of her loving mother, stepfather, and sisters. Can she ignore the pull of the happily familiar world of Colby?
Emaline wants the moon and more, but how can she balance where she comes from with where she's going?
Sarah Dessen's devoted fans will welcome this story of romance, yearning, and, finally, empowerment. It could only happen in the summer.
